Software Engineer - Multilingual Bug-Fix (Remote) $75-$100/Hr

Mercor is seeking talented Software Engineers with experience working across multiple programming languages and a strong command of real-world debugging workflows. In this role, you will analyze actual GitHub issues and pull requests to author high-quality bug-fix tasks that reflect the complexity and realism of modern software development.


Each task will be drawn from authentic development activity and will require a clear demonstration of a semantic bug, its minimal reproducible context, and a valid test-backed resolution. These tasks will support both evaluation and training of AI systems, particularly those designed to reason about and fix code across diverse language ecosystems.


You are a good fit if you:

  • Have proficiency in at least 1 of the following languages: C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, Ruby, Rust

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects involving real-world bug fixes

  • Have experience with large-scale codebases and collaborative development via Git/GitHub

  • Have demonstrated expertise in debugging, testing, and patch-based software fixes

  • Have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, unit and integration testing practices

  • Have ability to read, interpret, and triage real-world issue reports and pull requests

  • Are based out of the US, Canada, UK, Australia, NZ


Role Highlights

  • Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.

  • Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.

  • Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.


Role Start Date

  • This role will begin in mid to late-August with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.


Compensation and Legal Details

  • You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor

  • We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
